Creative Resume Handout
Resume Creation
My one my favorite quotes shows how photography and life relate. Life is like a Camera. You focus on what’s important, capture the good times, develop from the negative and if things don’t work take another shot. For the passed few years I have studied the art of photography. As I have learned about and developed a love in photography, I have changed how I look at scenes. I view the world around me differently and often find myself thinking about how I would capture that moment.
My unique style is to capture scenes in the moment. I like to see true expressions on people’s faces, the beauty of a landscape, or to capture what my brain and eye have deemed a beautifully scene. I also like to find the unique in the scenes I am capturing and to see what is different.
For my creative resume hand out, I focused on showing my work in a step by step process. As I began thinking about this project, I imagined handing my resume to a potential employer and seeing their surprise to see something different. I picked an envelope style to give it a clean but well thought out resume. As you begin to unfold, you are introduced to some of my photos as well as where you can find more samples of my work. You are also introduced to me and once you reach the inside, you can learn more about me and what my skill levels are. Using Illustrator, I carefully measured out where the folds were and then I placed the pictures the spot I am planned out. I also had to have a rough sketch so I could remember the different angles and how much of the photo would be showing. I printed once to be sure of quality and the alignment. Then I printed the rest and folded them into the finished product.
This simple resume shows some of my best photos as well as my skills for looking for the unique. As a photographer I like to find different angles to shoot a photo and my resume and business card both show different angles.
I am a very determined person. I am driven to get the job done. I strive to focus on what is important both through the lens in the camera and in completing a project. I work to weed out those things that aren’t helping the overall project. My satisfaction comes from knowing a project was done right.

Exterior Architectural Photography
Outdoor Architectural HDR Photography
There are many different ways to take photos of architectural. These photos I tried a few different techniques and lens to find the best way to show these buildings. The first photo is taken with a wide angle lens, a fish-eye lens. I also had 2 speedlights to light the outdoor lights of the building. I took the photo at different exposures and then combined the photos together in Photoshop. Lastly I masked out the people holding the speedlights. For the Fire Department I used camera settings to bracket the building. Lastly I combined all 3 images in Photoshop. Mike Kelley is an awesome Architectural Photographer. I have watched a few of his videos of how he takes different photos. My settings varied but I kept a small aperture, ISO 100, ad my shutter speed varied between 1/125-1/200. Here is a great website on learning how to take architectural photography.
Interior Architectural Photography
Architectural Photography Indoors
Taking indoor architectural photography is fun and challenging. For these photos I used speed lights to light different parts of the room. Starting with a dark exposure, I used the speed lights to light the different parts of the room. Post took the longest. Using Photoshop, I masked all the photos together to create a well-lit photo. Mike Kelley has an awesome technique when it comes to architectural photography. I tired to do a similar technique that he uses. The second photo posted shows all the different photos I masked together. My settings varied depending on the lighting. I kept a smaller aperture and my shutter speed stayed with in 1/100 to 1/200. My ISO was also 400. Here is a great website on learning how to take architectural photography.
Airplanes and Cars Photography
Photographing Airplanes and Cars
Taking photos of people are fun, but it is awesome to work on taking photos of something else. For these photos, I was able to walk around and take photos of awesome cars and old planes. The best thing to do with these kinds of photo shoots is to ind a unique angle. The more unique the angle the more creative it becomes. For many of these photos, I did light painting. Using a couple of large flashlights, and a shutter speed of 15 seconds, I was able to create these unique photos. Caryn Esplin is the best when it comes to light painting. She has done a lot to teach me how to do this successfully. These were a lot of fun to do and fun to try different lighting techniques. Here are some great tips on how to take more of these photos.

Caryn Esplin help show me some great examples of things I should be working on. My settings were ISO400, 1/ 125, and F/6.3. I reallyloved looking at the buttons on the uniforms. Also the different hats and helmets were cool to look at and photograph. Here is an awesome website that shows some awesome tips about taking accessory photography.
Group Fashion Photography
Couples and Group Fashion Photography
Working with groups is fun and challenging. Making sure the lighting is right is the first challenge. Next is placing and directing all the models where to look and how to stand. For these shots, I wanted to show off the unique fashions and the planes we were able to work with. Trying different poses and different lighting create different and unique photos. Caryn Esplin helped me a lot to see how to look for the unique angles. This was a lot of fun and to step back in time working on these photos.
